Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have questions before your first visit to Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics, or about follow-up care for your teeth? Find all of your questions answered below in our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). Can’t find your answer? Feel free to call our office and speak to one of our team members who would be happy to assist you!

What dental services does Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics perform?
We perform a full range of procedures including basic cleanings, teeth whitening (using the Zoom whitening system), fillings, dental implants, orthodontics (such as braces or Invisalign®), oral surgery and endodontics (root canals, cracked teeth, dental trauma, etc.).
What happens during an infant’s first dental visit?
First, the dentist will review your child’s medical history and give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. He or she will talk to you about your child’s oral health including tooth development, oral habits (such as finger sucking), teething, your child’s bite development, your child’s gums and cheeks, how to prevent dental trauma, and how to prevent cavities.

Then you will sit knee to knee with the dentist and place your child on your lap, facing you. He or she will ask you to lay the child back with his or her head on the dentist’s lap so that both of you can see clearly into your child’s mouth.

In this position, the dentist will perform a full examination and show you how to properly clean your child’s teeth. You will also be given advice about what to expect in the coming months, when to follow up with another visit, and how to use toothpaste and fluoride. If your child’s teeth have any stains (this is common), the dentist may clean the teeth or apply fluoride to help protect them.

Are dental x-rays safe for children?
Dental x-rays are very safe, and our pediatric dentists are very careful to limit the amount of radiation children are exposed to. We have the latest digital x-ray technology in our offices as well as lead aprons to ensure safety and the lowest exposure to radiation for you and your family.
What should I expect during my cleaning and check-up?
Your dentist will clean the plaque and tartar buildup off of your teeth, and then polish them so that they sparkle. The dentist will then perform a full examination of your teeth, mouth, and gums and review your records to check for any dental problems that may be present. X-rays of your mouth may also be taken during your visit.
Do you offer emergency care?
Yes! Whether it’s the middle of the night or the middle of the weekend, our dentists are ready to help you with all kinds of dental emergencies and accidents. Someone is there to take your call 24hrs a day!
When should I bring my child to the dentist?
Your child should have his or her first comprehensive dental exam at 6 months of age. The visit will include a full oral exam, complete medical history, complete dental history for the infant and parent, and some instructions on how to properly manage your child’s oral health for the future.
Do you speak Spanish?
Yes! We are proud to provide services to the Spanish-speaking community!
What should I do if my child has a toothache?
Call your dentist as soon as possible.
What makes your practice different?
Why, the FUN of course! Rodeo Dental staffs dentists, endodontists, oral surgeons, pediatric dentists, and orthodontists. Our team operates with the collective belief that dental visits should – and can – be fun! In addition to investing in state of the art technology, we also work regularly to provide educational and fun programs to kids, teens, and families in the communities we serve.
How should I prepare for my visit?
When coming for a cleaning and check-up, it is a good idea to brush your teeth if you have eaten. For other dental procedures, your dentist will give you specific preparation directions for your visit.
Will my dental visit hurt?
Dental technology has advanced so rapidly over the past few decades that most dental procedures are now painless or nearly so. Your dentist has many tools at his or her disposal to make you feel comfortable and avoid all pain whatsoever. Ask us about your options!
What if I’m nervous or afraid of needles?
Rodeo Dental offers both DentalVibe® pain-free injection technology as well as sedation dentistry for our patients. It can be as simple as taking a Valium (diazepam) or Versed (midazolam) pill before your visit to help you calm down and breathe easy.

There are additional options, like nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and other sedation techniques if you want to feel even more at ease. In one study, 90 percent of fearful patients reported more comfort and less fear with the use of sedation.

What should I tell my child about the dentist?
We suggest you prepare your child the same way you would prepare them for their first haircut or a trip to the shoe store. If you are nervous about the trip yourself, then saying less is better. Your child’s reaction to his first visit to the dentist may surprise you!
What if I feel embarrassed?
Dental professionals see thousands of people with unique oral health challenges in any given year. If it has been a long time since you’ve seen a dentist or if you have crooked teeth or bad breath, you might feel embarrassed to let anyone look closely at your mouth. Just remember your dentist is here to help. If you feel embarrassed or uncomfortable, always speak up!
When do I come back again?
Be sure to come in for a cleaning and check-up every 6 months. Forgoing dental treatment means cavities, lost teeth, altered appearance, and more serious afflictions like gum disease (which is linked to heart disease, strokes and diabetes), so it is important that you see your dentist twice a year to maintain good oral health. Call us with any questions you may have in between visits.
What types of insurance do you accept?
Rodeo believes that every family deserves access to high-end dental care regardless of social or financial status. We work hard to deliver exceptional dental care at affordable prices and provide flexible payment options that fit most situations. This includes accepting almost all insurance plans, so call us today to find out more or request a call!
What if I need a payment plan?
We offer zero interest payment plans through CareCredit®. For more information, visit http://www.carecredit.com/.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes! We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover.
